A storm deductible is an often higher deductible for damage that occurs as a result of a “named storm”. NOAA assigns names to unusually large or more threatening storms and all significant Tropical systems. If you or your property were effected by a named storm, the property insurance claim you file will likely be assessed a, higher, named storm deductible. Insurance carriers use named storm deductibles to offset part of their costs of coverages for weather events that cause widespread and extraordinary damage. While your coverages for property may remain the same, the amount of deductible you pay to receive those coverages can increase. Although some coverages are extended before a deductible payment is made; these coverages are subject to special rules and circumstances. Ask a Public Adjuster or Licensed Attorney for a review or your specific coverages for a better understanding.
